hot days trying to grow hair for the fall (which can be really tough in Oklahoma). Cheese and I spent lots of hours and long days in the cooler rinsing, brushing and listening to some great tunes and hoping that the steers would turn out. It's always a team effort at our barn to make everything happen and this year was no different. I was so appreciative of all our friends who showed up at the American Royal to help fit my steers. It was a busy day and there’s no way we could have made it happen without all the people who took time away from their operations to come and help. Winning a major steer show has been one of my dreams for as long as I can remember. The livestock industry is so very competitive, and you must have so many things go right just to have the chance to be able to be out
there competing. Winning the show at Kansas City is definitely a memory that my family will remember forever. I want to thank everyone who helped us along the way and everyone who helped show day and kept things going at home so that we could be gone to the show. Thank you to everyone who congratulated our family and to the American Royal Board of Directors and staff for putting on a great event and premium auction. Thank you to The Showtimes Magazine for catching so many great photos and videos that I will always cherish. As I look forward after high school, I am hoping to judge livestock at a junior college and then pursue my bachelor's degree and come back to the livestock industry. I don’t think there is any better industry to be a part of. ●
