Jim Reid
KEEP YOUR EYES UP I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8
Our dad Jim Reid touched every working part of The Showtimes. He helped make every black Showtimes Banner that hang in barns across the country. He was the first to read every single issue and our biggest fan. There wouldn’t be The Showtimes without him. He will continue to inspire each issue of The Showtimes Magazine.

I can’t believe we are already going to print with the final issue of 2025! The Showtimes Nov/Dec 2025 Year End Edition brings to a close another year of The Showtimes. We appreciate each and everyone of our Advertisers and Subscribers that make The Showtimes what it is! Thank you for your continued support! This issue includes Show Results from the American Royal and other Fall Shows! It is also packed with Faces and Places from Kansas City! Plus, you don’t want to miss our new young Showtimes Hall of Fame member starting on page 70! One of the really neat things about The Showtimes Hall of Fame that differs from a normal Hall of Fame, is that we like to honor both young and old. There are people that have had incredible careers and done many great things in their lives. We also like to recognize the youth of today that excell with what they do while they are still showing or judging! This new Hall of Fame member does just that! This issue we are honored to once again have Griswold Cattle’s The Classic featured on the front cover. It is always a pleasure working with John and Jeannie Griswold and enjoy having their high quality cattle featured on our cover!

MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY AND BE WISE.
with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” A few months ago, I had several friends going through big personal things. I’ve always considered myself someone they could count on for sound advice or just an understanding ear to listen. The part that I struggled with is where to draw the line on endless repeated topics and at what point it becomes too much that it takes away from my focus. I knew it was up to me to set boundaries and end the conversation, but I wanted to be there for them at the same time. I was starting to feel like it was dragging me down. I decided that instead of spending my time listening to the same thing over and over, I would spend more time studying the scripture and how it could help their situation. Instead of a two-hour phone call, I cut it down to fifteen minutes and followed it by sending an online sermon or some Bible verses that I thought might help. It felt like a weight was lifted off once I limited the time I spent listening to problems that I had no part in. I learned that I had to be diligent to control any negative energy and turn it into something that brings glory to God. There are only 24 hours in a day, so manage your time just like you’d manage that feed ration and make sure you’re maximizing your potential. ●
e all know how vitally important nutrition is to our show animals. We spend time studying, experimenting, and trying to perfect the
ideal diet for each individual animal to maximize their potential and achieve success. When our livestock doesn’t quite look the part, we tweak the ration until we get them turned around. We
know that what we feed them every day counts for something. We are disciplined when it comes to feeding them right and controlling every aspect of what goes into their system. Sometimes I wish it were that simple when it comes to controlling what we allow into our focus. Paul writes in Ephesians 5:15-20 “15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another

“As our operation continues to grow, we are always looking at ways to save time because the to-do list is never short. For us, when we heard about SenseHub Cow Calf ® , the ability to save time heat checking was instantly attractive. And that is exactly one of the benefits we saw of the system. We could heat check from the hayfield, from the other farm, from the wash rack ... really from anywhere.”

that came before me is super humbling. I have been a part of every aspect of this show from exhibiting myself and watching my daughter show to helping two different families win and serving on the NAILE advisory board. What an awesome honor this is. 6. IF YOU COULD MEET AND HAVE DINNER WITH ANY PERSON, WHO WOULD IT BE? That’s easy, I would love to have another dinner with my father and gain more of his wisdom. I would ask how mom is doing and ask how amazing heaven is. 7. OUTSIDE OF CATTLE, WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO? Spend time with my daughter, Taylor, and her husband with my three-year-old grandson and soon to be twins born right after NAILE. 8. WHAT IS SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU? After college I worked two years with Perdue Poultry in North Carolina while there, I formed a great working relationship with Dale Earnhardt and worked with him in his cattle and poultry operation. 9. THIS IS WHY I SHOW... I love the competition; I love the work. It’s the hard work that makes showing great. Not all are blessed the way I have been with a father that pushed me and put me in a position around the best to learn. He was then willing to give back, not only time to the next generation that wants to succeed, but be willing to try and make the industry better by serving on boards and discussions to make the industry better. There is no better place to teach a child the lessons of life than in the cattle industry.
1. WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND AND HOW DID YOU BECOME INVOLVED IN THE LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY? I was raised on a cattle and tobacco farm in Maysville Ky. My father loved cattle and allowed me to start showing at a young age. He understood he didn’t have the resources or know how to get me competitive, so he made sure to get me around people that where like Chan Phillips and Charlie Boy from my same county. My father and those guys pushed me to love the cattle showing industry. 2. WHO HAS HAD THE MOST INFLUENCE ON YOU AS A PERSON? My Father Bill Tolle. I can only hope to be the father and man he was. He always encouraged me to be the best at whatever I wanted and that took being around the best and learning I am from Kentucky so it’s Basketball. More specific, KY BASKETBALL - the WILDCATS. 4. WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF YOUR MOST MEMORABLE JUDGING MOMENTS? I remember getting the call to judge the Eastern Regional Limousin Jr. Nationals as a senior in college and thinking it doesn’t get any bigger than this. 3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SPORT? 5. WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU TO JUDGE THE STEERS ON THE GREEN CHIPS IN LOUISVILLE? Being from Kentucky, this is the SUPER BOWL of all steer shows. To me, the tradition of the green chips and those

Biscuits
INGREDIENTS • 16oz tube of ground Breakfast Sausage • 1/4 Cup Flour • 3 cups Milk • Salt and Pepper To Taste Gravÿ

DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
DIRECTIONS 1. In a large skillet cook the ground sausage until browned and crumbled into small pieces. 2. Over Medium/High heat sprinkle flour over sausage and drippings in the skillet and stir in. Gradually stir in the milk and continue to stir while it simmers. As it cooks it will thicken. If it is too thick add more milk. Salt and pepper to taste. 3. Make the gravy as the biscuits bake. Using a fork or hands break up lard into small pieces and equally distributed in flour. 3. Using a fork gently stir in milk until just combined. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently by flattening out and folding over to help create layers when they bake (do this 4-5 Times). 4. Roll out or pat dough to approximately ½” Thick, use a 1 1/2 “– 2” circle cuter to cut into biscuits. Gently roll scraps together as to not have waste. My name is Beau Ann Graves, and I am a senior at Chillicothe High School in Chillicothe, Missouri. I have been fortunate to grow up deeply rooted in agriculture as the fourth generation on my family’s show cattle operation, Graves Cattle Company. Life on our operation has been the foundation of my values, work ethic, and passion for the livestock industry. My parents, Preston and Samantha Graves, introduced me to livestock at an early age. I began showing pigs but quickly discovered my true passion in cattle. Some of my favorite moments are spent walking through sale pens with my family, talking about livestock, and the fine details that make each animal unique. As I became more involved in showing, I was drawn to livestock judging. What began with a few local contests here and there soon grew into a lifelong passion after competing in my first national contest at the Junior National Hereford Expo—at just 10 years old. A defining moment came when I joined the Clinton County 4-H Livestock Judging Team. Though having been to less contests than some of my talented teammates, my coaches, Cody Sloan and Shane Bedwell, encouraged me to push myself and strive to do my best. Under their guidance, I learned the fundamentals of evaluating breeding and market animals and developed the skills to deliver oral reasons confidently. Before long, I was competing at the National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest in Louisville, Kentucky. That experience led my team and I to earn a trip to the Royal Highland Show in Scotland this past summer, where we had the incredible honor
of representing the United States on the international stage. With spring approaching, it was finally time to start preparing for FFA livestock judging contests. I had looked forward to the year I could compete on the livestock team for as long as I’d been in FFA. Our advisor began the season by having us write down our goals so we’d have something to work toward. After several contests came and went, it was suddenly time for the Missouri State FFA Contest in Columbia. We could hardly believe it had arrived so quickly. After a long day of competition, we got the news that we were headed to the American Royal to compete on the national level. We were beyond excited and ready for the high-quality contest. As they started to announce this year’s Top 10 individuals in the FFA division, my heart started to race. Nerves began to build, and my mind went a hundred miles an hour. Countless words could describe the emotions I felt in that moment at this year’s American Royal, but one stands out above all others: humbling. When I heard my name called as the High Individual at the 126th American Royal, I was truly left speechless. For a moment, everything around me seemed to stop. It’s unbelievable to realize that this 17 year old from a small town in Missouri was able to achieve such a goal. I looked around the room and saw the faces of the people who have supported me since day one—coaches who guided me, the friends who encouraged me, and my family
who never stopped believing
in me. In that instant, every mile traveled, every late night, and every moment of doubt and determination felt worth it. It was more than just a title or an award—it was a reflection of years of hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering belief that passion and dedication truly do pay off. That moment will forever serve as a reminder of how far I have come and the incredible people who helped me get there. I would feel ungrateful if I did not take a moment to thank those who have helped me reach this point in my career. First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to my family and friends who have supported me from the very beginning. Your constant encouragement and unwavering belief in me have meant more than words can express. Thank you for

standing by my side through every contest and challenge along the way. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to those who have shaped me into the livestock evaluator I am today—my 4-H team coaches, Cody Sloan and Shane Bedwell, and my FFA advisor, Lance Martin. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of such an incredible team, one that opened countless doors for my future. Your guidance, support, and dedication have been instrumental in my success. You taught me to believe in myself, even in difficult moments, and continually pushed me to strive for excellence. I will never forget the long van rides to workouts and contests, the words of encouragement, and the memories made with all of you and the team. Lastly, I must give thanks to the one who made all of this possible—God. Without His steadfast guidance, love, and care, I would not be where I am today. On the back of my steno, I keep a verse that reminds me to stay faithful, especially in moments of doubt: Mark 9:23 — “Everything is possible for he who believes.” This verse serves as a daily reminder that the Lord not only guides us but also encourages us to keep believing, for with faith, anything is possible. As I reflect on my final youth contest, I can confidently say that this year’s American Royal will remain one of the most meaningful, humbling, and unforgettable experiences of my life. I am filled with immense gratitude for every opportunity and memory that has led me to this point. My journey is just beginning, and I look forward to seeing what the next chapter holds. ●
