H i, I’m Avery Layton from Bend, Oregon and I just got done competing at my first American Royal. I am beyond grateful and amazed to have exhibited the Grand Champion Market Hog at the Royal. Dreams really do come true!! This summer I told my mom that I would win the American Royal with my barrow Cartman. She said “Avery that is a

very big statement”. I told her that no dream is too big. You see I’m a huge Stetson Wright fan, he’s 7x world champion. I had watched an interview this summer were he said, “No dream is too big” and last week my dream came true!!! I am very passionate about agriculture because I have helped my grandparents on their hay and cattle ranch since I was born. I decided to

follow in brothers footsteps and show pigs and broaden my knowledge about another specie. Someday I hope to become a large animal vet and also teach others the importance of agriculture. As a lot of people forget where our food comes from, especially lately. I am truly blessed to have the people I have in my corner. I have thought about those words a lot

since listening to judge Will Winters in the grand drives speech….. “Just because they’re in your circle, don’t mean they’re in your corner. Find the ones that got your back, go to battle for them, and they’ll dang sure go to battle for you”. In my opinion I have the best extended family anyone could ever ask for. There are so many people to thank for getting me to this

point, my parents, my brother Jack, the entire Taipin family and our show family. Noa, I would especially like to thank you as without you I would not be where I am today. Lastly, I want everyone to know no dream is to big you just have to believe it in your heart! ■
