August 2023 State Fair Edition

Joe and Joelynn Rathmann of Smithville, Texas are excited to be at the Illinois State Fair as Officials of their Steer Show slated for Saturday August 12. Joe and Joelynn own and operate Rathmann Show Cattle; a multi- generational 40-year-old ranch that specializes in club calf production with an emphasis on show steer sales. Both Joe and Joelynn were members of successful junior and senior collegiate livestock judging programs (Joe being an All American in 2009 while judging for Blinn, then on the 2010 team at Texas A&M University. Joelynn was a 2008 All American at Butler, completing her collegiate judging career as a member of the 2009 team at Texas A&M.)

"However, more impressive would be Joe’s coaching career. For 7 years he was the livestock judging coach at Blinn college and led many teams to national titles." Joelynn owns and operates her own livestock photography business and has pictured livestock around the country. Though both have stepped away from their previous careers to raise their son Brigham and dedicate their time to the ranch, they can still be found in and out of the ring, working and coaching their show families whenever possible. They are thrilled and honored to sort the steers at this year’s Illinois State Fair!
