August 2023 State Fair Edition

Winning a junior national is something everyone strives for during the summertime. I have been blessed with some of the best people who share the same passion and who have worked together to achieve this goal. The people you surround yourself with and the people you choose to have in your corner are a key part in any success you’ll have. This summer and fall will conclude my time in the show ring as a junior exhibitor and my crew and I have worked our tails off for me to have the best chance at any success. There aren’t enough words I could write to express how grateful I am for each and every person who has played a role in the getting me to where I am. This past red angus junior nationals, I was fortunate to lead the grand champion owned female through the ring. Winning this title meant the world to me. It goes to show that everyone’s hard work was worth the late nights in the barn, the early mornings, and any little thing in between. Everything leading up to this moment was worth every second. Getting the champion slap is something that’s so indescribable and is a feeling that never grows old. It’s a rush of

excitement soon followed by a great deal of emotion. When I walked out of the ring, I had the best support system there waiting to hug my neck. Seeing the joy and tears on everyone’s faces around me meant more to me than the big purple banner I took home. The win was definitely something I will cherish forever but that’s not what it’s all about to me. Yes, it great to win shows, but when we’re older those banners won’t ever compare to the laughter coming from the chutes, the lifelong friendships we make along the way, or even the hugs from family members and friends when we walk out of the ring. This win represented us coming together as one to accomplish a goal as one. We all get caught up with the idea that we have to win every show for it to be considered a good trip. It should be considered good due to the fact we get to enjoy each other’s company and we get to do something we love with the people we love. This industry is something I will forever be grateful to be a part of and am so thankful for the many opportunities it has brought upon me. ■
